This document is
intended to provide you with a comprehensive overview on how to obtain a
sponsor and become a member of the club.
Most candidates fall into one of the three following categories:
1.
The candidate has a friend who is an active member who will act
as their sponsor;
2.
The candidate is an experienced marksman or archer and competes
in one or more of the public events at the club and gets to know active
members who will act as their sponsor; or,
3.
The candidate is interested in becoming a club member, but is
unable to compete in any of the public events and does not know any of
the active members of the club.
Regardless of
status, anyone desiring candidacy has numerous opportunities to begin a
mutually beneficial relationship with WSC and its members.
In order to develop relationships necessary to obtain a sponsor,
you can attend a multitude of events that are open to the public http://www.washtenawsportsmansclub.org/events/.
You may also attend
WSC’s General Membership Meetings and/or Board Meetings held the first
and third Thursday of the month respectively.
Come out and get involved so that we can get to know
each other!!

|
| All candidates must be
sponsored by an active member of WSC and be at least eighteen years of
age. An active member of
WSC can sponsor no more than two people each year.
The number of openings for membership each year is divided
equally between the following six major committees:
Archery, Black Powder, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, and Membership. The Membership committee represents all of the minor
committees within the club: Personal
Protection Training, Junior Rifle, Wild Women of Washtenaw, Hunter
Safety, Building and Grounds, etc.
All candidates must enroll in the committee that most closely
matches their interests.
Your sponsor will be responsible for
assisting you in selecting the appropriate committee and endorsing you
to that committee. Your
sponsor will add your name and contact information to the committee’s
list and sign that list as your sponsor.
They will guide you through the balance of the selection process.
Your responsibilities include exchanging contact information and
keeping in touch with your sponsor.
Requests for candidacy can be submitted to the appropriate
committee’s chairman any time between January 1st and the
July Board Meeting (third Thursday of the month)
The chairman of your committee will
maintain the list of all candidates and track their activities.
It is recommended that you participate in as many of that
committee’s activities as possible. In
early August the candidates will be selected, reviewed for compliance,
and admission will be approved by the WSC Board of Directors.
You will be notified if approved as a
candidate for probationary membership. You and your sponsor should be present at the September
General Membership Meeting (first Thursday of the month). Please plan on
arriving early because you will be asked to fill out an application for
probationary membership. Most
importantly, you will receive a Probationary Requirements form that you
must complete during your year long probationary period to become an
active member.
At the October General Membership Meeting (first
Thursday of the month), you will pay the annual membership dues
($130.00) or ($80.00 Seniors 65 & up) plus a $50.00 initiation fee. You will then be inducted into the club and presented with a
probationary membership card. After
orientation you will have full access to all WSC ranges and facilities.
